Excursion Trip to Neelum Valley, AJK

From 21–23 May 2026, the Centre of Excellence in Gender Studies (CEGS), QAU, organized a three-day trip to Kashmir. A total of 55 students and 3 officials joined the visit, making the journey a memorable experience filled with exploration and learning.✨🏔️

During the trip, participants visited Sharda Valley, Keran Valley along the LoC, and the breathtaking Arang Kel. From scenic mountain roads and flowing rivers to rain-covered valleys and cultural songs throughout the journey, every moment reflected the beauty and serenity of Kashmir.

The trip provided students and faculty members with an opportunity to take learning beyond classrooms while experiencing the rich natural beauty and peaceful landscapes of northern Pakistan.

Centre of Excellence in Gender Studies and the School of Sociology convened a joint assembly

On 6th May 2026, the faculty, students, and staff of the Centre of Excellence in Gender Studies and the School of Sociology convened a joint assembly in response to the incident of 30th April 2026, during which a group of students attempted to forcibly shut down the departments through acts of violence.
A large number of students attended the gathering to express solidarity with the Director of the School of Sociology, Dr. Sadia Saeed, who stood firm in opposing these actions and urged that no form of violence be used to disrupt the functioning of the departments.
During the assembly, the Directors of the Centre of Excellence in Gender Studies and the School of Sociology reaffirmed the students that in all cases both the departments are committed to protect students’ right to expression. At the same time, they emphasized that under no circumstances will acts of violence be tolerated or permitted as a means to disrupt academic activities.
